... ale gwarantuję że w inny sposób niż myśleliście.
Ten wpis będzie znów o inflacji. Ale z niespodziewanej strony aktorzy różnie się wypowiedzą.
Najpierw Keynes. Mój "ulubieniec", przez którego mamy takie szambo jak obecnie i które coraz bardziej zapełniają indywidua pokroju Krugmana, Bernanke i Yellen. Innymi słowy: półgłówki.
Ale wróćmy do "miszcza"... Oto co wypocił w swojej książce w 1919:
"Lenin is said to have declared that the best way to destroy the capitalist system was to debauch the currency. By a continuing process of inflation, governments can confiscate, secretly and unobserved, an important part of the wealth of their citizens. By this method they not only confiscate, but they confiscate arbitrarily; and while the process impoverishes many, it actually enriches some. The sight of this arbitrary rearrangement of riches strikes not only at security, but at confidence in the existing distribution of wealth. Those to whom the system brings windfalls, beyond their deserts and even beyond their expectations or desires, become 'profiteers', who are the object of the hatred of the bourgeoisie, whom the inflationism has impoverished, not less than of the proletariat. As the inflation proceeds and the value of the currency fluctuates wildly from month to month, all permanent relations between debtors and creditors, which form the ultimate foundation of capitalism, become so utterly disordered as to be almost meaningless; and the process of wealth-getting degenerates into a gamble and a lottery.
Lenin was certainly right. There is no subtler, no surer means of overturning the existing basis of society than to debauch the currency. The process engages all the hidden forces of economic law on the side of destruction, and it does it in a manner which not one man in a million is able to diagnose."
Dla nieznakomych w angliczeskim:
"Lenin podobno powiedział że najlepszym sposobem na zniszczenie kapitalizmu jest zepsuć walutę. Poprzez ciągły proces inflacji rządy mogą konfiskować, w sekrecie i niezauważenie, ważną część bogactwa swoich obywateli. Tą metodą nie tylko konfiskują, ale też robią to arbitralnie i podczas gdy zubaża on wielu, wzbogaca niektórych. (...)
Lenin zdecydowanie miał rację. Nie ma bardziej subtelnego, bardziej pewnego sposobu na obalenie istniejących podwalin społeczeństwa niż psucie waluty. Proces ten angażuje wszystkie ukryte siły praw ekonomii po stronie zniszczenia, w dodatku w sposób którego nie diagnozuje nawet jeden człowiek na milion".
Dowcipem jest to, że cytat ten był przez długi czas podważany jako nieprawdziwy głównie przez jego (Keynesa) następców. Nigdzie w dziełach Lenina nie można było go znaleźć, zatem był kwestionowany. Głównie dlatego, że ustami Keynesa obrońcy standardu złota bronili tegoż standardu. Niezłe, co?
Okazuje się jednak, że - co się nieczęsto zdarza u Keynesa, który regularnie zmyślał/deformował cytaty swoich oponentów - jest on tak naprawdę ZŁAGODZONY!!
Lenin rzeczywiście powiedział coś podobnego:
"Hundreds of thousands of rouble notes are being issued daily by our treasury. This is done, not in order to fill the coffers of the State with practically worthless paper, but with the deliberate intention of destroying the value of money as a means of payment. There is no justification for the existence of money in the Bolshevik state, where the necessities of life shall be paid for by work alone.
Experience has taught us it is impossible to root out the evils of capitalism merely by confiscation and expropriation, for however ruthlessly such measures may be applied, astute speculators and obstinate survivors of the capitalist classes will always manage to evade them and continue to corrupt the life of the community. The simplest way to exterminate the very spirit of capitalism is therefore to flood the country with notes of a high face-value without financial guarantees of any sort.
Already even a hundred-rouble note is almost valueless in Russia. Soon even the simplest peasant will realise that it is only a scrap of paper, not worth more than the rags from which it is manufactured. Men will cease to covet and hoard it so soon as they discover it will not buy anything, and the great illusion of the value and power of money, on which the capitalist state is based will have been definitely destroyed.
This is the real reason why our presses are printing rouble bills day and night, without rest."
Cytat pochodzi z artykułu opublikowanego 23.04.1919 w Daily Chronicle oraz New York Times i jest notatką z wywiadu udzielonego w Moskwie.
Co powiedział w tym przedruku? Barwnie i szczegółowo to co napisał Keynes. Tylko BARDZIEJ. Nie da się jednak nie zauważyć że Keynes z 1936 brzmi mniej jak keynes z 1919 a bardziej jak Lenin z 1919. Intencjonalne? Możliwe. A może nie:
"The ideas of economists and political philosophers, both when they are right and when they are wrong, are more powerful than is commonly understood. Indeed the world is ruled by little else. Practical men, who believe themselves to be quite exempt from any intellectual influence, are usually the slaves of some defunct economist. Madmen in authority, who hear voices in the air, are distilling their frenzy from some academic scribbler of a few years back. I am sure that the power of vested interests is vastly exaggerated compared with the gradual encroachment of ideas. Not, indeed, immediately, but after a certain interval; for in the field of economic and political philosophy there are not many who are influenced by new theories after they are twenty-five or thirty years of age, so that the ideas which civil servants and politicians and even agitators apply to current events are not likely to be the newest".
Znów przekład:
"Praktycy, wierzący że nie podlegają żadnym wpływom intelektualnym, są zazwyczaj niewolnikami idei jakiegoś dawno zmarłego ekonomisty. Szaleńcy-autorytety, słyszący głosy dochodzące znikąd, rafinują maniackie pomysły jakiegoś teoretyzującego pisarzyny sprzed kilku lat. (...)"
Tak więc pamiętajcie drogie dzieci: jak ktoś mówi że inflacja jest naturalna, pamiętajcie o Leninie z tego przedruku powyżej. A teraz pocałujcie Misia...
